The first thing that happened that enraged the Americans was, the law that the Mexican Empire did not allow slavery in its nation and Texas was part of Mexico at the time. To add a part to the statement i just made, the Americans wanted Texas to be annexed to the United States. Mexico would not allow this to happen, so in that action the Americans sent alot of people to try to persuade Mexico to have Texas be given or sold to the United States. Polk was playing tricky with Mexico and was going to ambush, but Mexico attacked first, Thus initiating both countries into the Mexican-American War.
